Costa Rica coffee is one of the best origins in the world. Although it is partly due to the volcanic soil rich in nutrients, the altitude, the mild temperatures all year round, and the abundant rainfall which are the perfect conditions for coffee farming, this is also the result of the country’s policies: it is the only country in the world where it is actually illegal to produce anything but 100% Arabica coffee beans -the best beans. A law to this effect was voted in 1989 to encourage farmers to grow only high-quality beans and it has definitely paid off as many specialist farmers can get sky-high prices for their beans.
The care that farmers take in producing high-quality coffee is also expressed in the fact that the beans are hand-picket when they are fully ripe, and not a minute sooner, ensuring that each bean will give its full flavour.
Our Costa Rica coffee beans are roasted to a mild to medium roast. Whether you like espresso or latte, light or stronger coffee, this coffee is a good all-rounder which will lend itself to various brews and is ideal for people who prefer a full-bodied medium roast.
Grown at altitudes of 600-1,700 meters above sea level
Harvested between June and September
Milled by washing and drying in the sun
Has the aroma of chocolate and hazelnut

Blending tip: when deciding on a mixed roast blend it usually works better to have more of the milder roast, less of the stronger.
Blending tip: even the strongest roast can be mixed with a normal tasting blend - so long as you use very little. Start by trying one part in four.
