Kenyan coffee is well known for its full body and rich tones. Naturally of an intense flavour, a mild roast like ours is sufficient to deliver a flavoursome cup. Its beans are among the most sought after by corporate roasters who use it to spice up blends, and as such they command higher prices on the coffee market.

Kenya having been a British colony, its coffee was widely known in Great-Britain and British people nowadays still think of it as the best, and it is indeed considered one of the most exceptional coffees in the world, a gourmet produce for connoisseurs. We, at Coffee Plant, have a particular affection for Kenyan coffee as it was the first one we ever sold; a small batch import in 1983 roasted on the corner of Portobello Road and Blenheim Crescent on a handmade roaster! The technology has evolved since then but we still bring the same care to the roasting of beans which is supervised by our master roaster and not a computer.

If you are looking for coffee beans for filter (or cafetière) which can give you a robust cup, then the Kenyan medium roast is perfect for you.

Grown at altitudes of 1,850 metres above sea level

Harvested between October and February

Milled by washing and drying in the sun

Has the aroma of caramel and blackcurrant

These beans are suitable for: filter and cafetières.

Did you know our ordering system allows you to create your own blends? Order each component of the blend separately and than tell us what do do in the special information box. We can then blend it and if required grind it, saving you a potentially messy kitchen worktop

Blending tip: when deciding on a mixed roast blend it usually works better to have more of the milder roast, less of the stronger.

Blending tip: even the strongest roast can be mixed with a normal tasting blend - so long as you use very little. Start by trying one part in four.
