One thing that can be said about Costa Rica is that they certainly take their coffee very seriously, so much so that producing anything but 100% Arabica coffee beans -the best beans- has been actually illegal since 1989! If you add to this the country’s ideal growing conditions, a rich volcanic soil, altitude and abundant rainfall, Costa Rica’s reputation for excellence is no surprise and explains the high prices that specialist coffee beans can fetch on the market.
Thanks to a soil naturally fertile and that doesn’t require any chemical products, the country has also astutely seized the opportunity to develop Costa Rica coffee farming with great success.
The beans we sell are very popular with our customers as they make a good all-round coffee, be it lattes or espressos. Handpicked by the coffee farmers only when they are fully ripe and will give their best flavour, they are then roasted by eye by our expert coffee roaster to a mild to medium roast. After all the love involved in growing then, we wouldn’t want to leave that to a computer-controlled program!
So if you are looking for a full-bodied Costa Rica coffee, this is the one for you!
Grown at altitudes of 600-1,700 meters above sea level
Harvested between June and September
Milled by washing and drying in the sun
Has the aroma of chocolate and hazelnut
Did you realize: our coffee packs are always 250 grams, not 225 grams as is often the case with mass market coffee.
