The history of Nicaraguan coffee farming has known turbulent times since it began in the 19th century, plagued by political instability and hurricanes, but thanks to the concerted efforts of the government, the country has gained its rightful place among producers of gourmet coffees and is now one of the largest producers in the world, as well as one of the largest exporter.
Offered in a 250g valve pack for freshness, this Nicaraguan coffee has all the subtlety and complexity you would expect of Arabica beans. With tones of caramel, citrus and chocolate, it is slightly milder than South American coffees while offering a well-balanced body. Our master roaster supervises the roasting of all the coffee we sell, by eye, to ensure that each coffee is roasted to perfection. For these beans, we have selected a medium strong roast, between a full roast and a Continental roast, to fully reveal their flavours. If you like a coffee with personality, this is definitely the one for you.
While not all Nicaraguan coffees are certified organic, the country’s soil is so rich that they often are, de facto, organic. We selected this particular coffee because it is certified both organic and Fairtrade.
Grown at altitudes of 1,100-1,400 meters above sea level
Harvested between October and March
Milled by washing
Has the aroma of caramel, chocolate and citrus
Did you realize: our coffee packs are always 250 grams, not 225 grams as is often the case with mass market coffee.
